A Carotid Doppler Ultrasound is a noninvasive vascular study that uses ultrasound imaging to evaluate blood flow through the carotid arteries in the neck. It can help identify plaque buildup, narrowing, or other abnormalities that may affect blood flow to the brain.

What Patients Can Expect

The patient lies comfortably while the ultrasound technician applies gel to the neck and uses an ultrasound transducer to evaluate the carotid arteries. The study is noninvasive and does not use radiation.
